Synopsis for "Captain Marvel: The Bal Masque"
Whitey Murphy's just been certified as Billy's new assistant, but the message confirming his appointment orders them to report to where Morris is staying in D.C. for a secret mission. Billy transforms and flies off carrying Whitey to get their as quickly as possible (even though they stop in mid-air to help restart a plane's stalling engine). They arrive at an unspecified ambassador's home for a masquerade ball. Though the two are turned away without invitations, Billy transforms again, and the noise alerts Morris who brings the duo in as his guests. He alerts them the ambassador's daughter is wearing a ring containing a secret code even she doesn't know about, that needs to be delivered to allied forces. Captain Marvel and Whitey are to guard father and daughter.
A pair of dancers entertain for the guest, but with his peerless brain of ancient customs, Captain Marvel realizes they're doing it wrong, and hypnotizes them from his seat in the audience into correcting their performance. Next, the band announces a "blackout waltz", where the lights will be shut off and the guests will find a dance partner in the dark. Once the lights fall, however, a shady fellow who'd been hitting on the ambassador's daughter has disappeared along with the daughter herself. Despite some of his Nazi conspirators attempting to hold the guests hostage, they're no match for Captain Marvel, who manages to wring the knowledge that the rest of their group is making a getaway in an airplane. Marvel and Whitey pursue and find out they were heading to a secret island base, which is where they go next.
There, Marvel finds the shady guy is actually a spy for Naval Intelligence, who'd been tied up and left behind because the Nazis found out his true allegiance and that plans were about to be carried out to bomb the base. Meanwhile, the ambassador's daughter is holding Whitey and Morris at gunpoint and flies away. Marvel finds a coded message as the bombers descend on the island.

Synopsis for Ibis the Invincible: "Sacrifice to the Angry God"
Ibis' soldier friend tries to save him but is gunned down. Meanwhile, Ibis is turned over to the priest of the Angry God to be sacrificed to it. By concentrating all her will, Taia manages to overcome the dark magic blocking her attempts to rescue Ibis and snaps his ropes. The Angry God comes to life, but Ibis stabs its priest with his own knife, and the wicked "diety" de-animates. Meanwhile, Half-Man sees Ibis coming in his crystal ball escapes through a hole in the wall only a scarecrow with missing limbs like him could fit through.
Ibis appears to the defending army who are the Nazis' next targets. He has them put their uniforms on dummies to make it look like their base is still staffed. When Half-Man and his forces advance to occupy the base, they discover the trick and are attacked by the still very much defiant soldiers.
