Synopsis for "Captain Marvel and the Three Lieutenant Marvels Unite To Fight With the United Nations"

Billy gets a new assistant, Anton Stogg, who watches the wire and writes up notes for Billy's broadcast. However, Stogg is actually a fifth columnist sneaking secret information into Billy's announcements to alert his compatriots of potential targets. A Nazi U-boat crew sinks an oil tanker, though Captain Marvel manages to save the survivors. Billy makes another suspicious broadcast, but is arrested by the FBI as he leaves the booth. He's locked in a cell specifically set up that even Captain Marvel couldn't save him from, because the door has a dead man's switch that'll electrocute Billy if it's forced. Billy himself is cowed by the thought that transforming and escaping will just add to his guilt.

Hearing that Billy is a national traitor, the three other Billy Batsons refuse to believe it, knowing what they know of his true identity. Fat Billy barges into a radio booth and despite being kicked out, gets out a message to the others to convene on what to do. They sneak into Station WHIZ, see Stogg being assigned Billy's duties, and immediately figure he must be the real spy. They follow him back to his cell, but are caught and knocked out with a chair to the head after the door collapses under the pressure of all three leaning against it to eavesdrop.

Meanwhile, Billy transforms to Captain Marvel to let his super-brain decipher the meaning of the broadcast that got him arrested, and he realizes the chiefs of the United Stations are having a secret message, and he told the Nazis right where it is! Stopping that's more important than Billy's reputation, and Marvel smashes through the wall to escape. He sees Stogg on the street, and follows the frightened spy back to his hideout, just as they're about to execute the other Billy Batsons. All four Marvels fly to intercept "the entire Nazi naval force" as it closes in on the ship where the meeting's taking place. Fat Marvel and Hill Marvel airlift the cabin where the meeting's taking place, and hold it at a safe altitude while the chiefs continue to discuss their secret plans! The others throw bombers at the Nazis ships, two slipping away when the Marvels run out of ammunition. Meanwhile, everyone's cleared by Stogg's confession, but Captain Marvel has to slip away from his victory parade--Billy has to broadcast the adventure!

Synopsis for Ibis the Invincible: "The Horrible Hand"

Trug meets with Crowley Thorne, a dealer in black market demonic creatures. Having lost his magic powers in a previous confrontation with Ibis, Trug is looking for something that will let him get back in the game. Thorne offers the free-floating hand of a demon, all that remains of a devil, but able to obey commands. Trug orders it to rob a bank, but the hand is immediately detected and traced back to Trug by Ibis. However, the hand loyally saves Trug by bending the bars in his cell's window and allowing him to escape.

To keep Ibis from interfering again, when he meets with the police, the hand pulls the cop's gun and shoots him in the back of the head. Since no-one else was in the room, Ibis is arrested for the cop's murder. This doesn't inconvenience the wizard for long, since he gets handed the Ibistick back during his meeting with the DA, and uses it to whisk himself away to hunt down Trug, who, at that minute, is sending the hand to attack Taia. Ibis drives it back for a moment with magical fire, but a devil's hand is not easily burnt and it recovers quickly. Since he can't destroy it, Ibis instead confines it inside a crystal ball. Trug's arrested, and has no magic to help him escape this time. Meanwhile, Ibis buries the orb containing the devil's hand, hoping it's never discovered and set free again.
