Synopsis for Ibis the Invincible: "Murgh the Merciless"
A former crime boss known as Murgh approaches a scientist who's developed a working time machine. He uses it to go back in time to destroy the Ibistick, so Ibis will never have been able to use it to wipe out his underworld empire. Meanwhile, the vibrations of the Ibistick warn Ibis of danger and lead him to the scientist's lab, where he learns what's happened. He transports himself and Taia back to the days of ancient Egypt where Murgh's gone. However, because nothing can exist in two places at once, the Ibistick disappears from his hand.
Murgh's fallen in with a local scoundrel named Rotep who leads him to the Shrine of Osiris, where the Ibistick is kept in that era. A minion they send to steal the wand's vaporized by a blast of light from the statue's eyes, but Murgh snatches it without entering danger by using a lasso. The modern criminal then betrays Rotep, using the wand's magic to reduce him to a skeleton to keep from sharing his power. Which he then uses to make himself pharaoh. Ibis and Taia, as strangers, are accused of being the ones who stole the Ibistick and brought before the new ruler. In a confrontation with the wizard, Murgh tries to collapse a column on Ibis, but instead it falls on him. Then he tries to command Ibis to become the new column to replace it, but instead that fate befalls him. Any command to harm the Ibistick's true master with its magic will reflect back onto the offender.
Ibis and Taia leave the Ibistick of that era behind use Murgh's time machine to return to the 40's. Once there, the modern incarnation of the Ibistick returns.
