Synopsis for Ibis the Invincible: "The Man Who Sold His Soul to the Devil"

Actor Eric Wintrhop visits Ibis and Taia, and tells them that a year ago he made a deal with the devil to be more than the understudy of a famous actor. The fiend granted his wish, by crushing the actor and giving Winthrop his chance to shine. Seeing how horrible the conditions of the arrangement were, Winthrop broke the pact, but Satan threatened to return in a year. That time has come.

Satan comes to collect, but walks into a magic binding symbol Ibis has prepared for him. The wizard demands a fair trial, and the devil appears to agree, but the jury he summons is made up of evil men from throughout history. Ibis uses his magic to remind them of their various foul deeds, and the damned jurors flee in terror. With no jury there can be no trial, so Winthrop is freed, but the devil promises to return for revenge.
