Synopsis for Captain Marvel: "Man of the Future"

A scientist develops a serum that causes sped-up evolution in a gorilla, turning it into an ape-man who breaks his cage, throws Captain Marvel against a wall and escapes through a window. The evolved ape manages to give Marvel the slip by becoming a modern human, but by the time he arrives back at the scientist's lab, he's evolved so far he's become a futuristic specimen with a super-developed brain. He demands more of the formula at gunpoint, intending to turn every other ape he finds into a future-man until they have an army that can conquer the world. That's when Captain Marvel makes it back to the lab, restraining the future-man as the scientist force-feeds him an antidote that returns him to the form of a contented ape.

Trivia

  • Ticker tape was the earliest electrical dedicated financial communications medium, transmitting stock price information over telegraph lines, in use from around 1870 through 1970. It consisted of a paper strip that ran through a machine called a stock ticker, which printed abbreviated company names as alphabetic symbols followed by numeric stock transaction price and volume information. The term "ticker" came from the sound made by the machine as it printed.
  • Seemingly, the mermaids on Earth-S aren't Atlanteans.
