Synopsis for Captain Marvel: "Old Man River"

On a day off to go fishing, Billy spots a boat about to split its hull on a rock in the river, and transforms to save it. The pilot remarks it seems like his voyage really is cursed, and Marvel asks what he means. He explains he's Ted Ronson, son of Bart Ronson, a bullying business owner who owned a whole fleet of ships that used to ply the river. One day an old man standing on a rock asked for a lift, claiming to be the ruler of that river, as Poseidon was the ruler of the ocean. Ronson kicked him into the water, and the old man cursed him so that every ship in his fleet would sink disastrously. One by one this proved true, until the yacht Ronson himself was on sank.

Now, Ted's determined to pilot the old family houseboat to the end of the river and prove there's nothing to the family curse. It's all too real, and the old man who's Ted's first mate is none other than the Old Man of the River who cursed his family, there to finish the job. When the ship hits a bump and the old man falls out, however, Ted jumps in and swims to save his friend. Realizing Ted Ronson is nothing like his father, the Old Man of the River rescinds his curse.

Synopsis for Ibis the Invincible: "Goes to the Races"

A man named Ned tries to convince his sweetheart he'll make enough money from winning that day's big horse race that they can get married, even with her disapproving uncle having control of her estate. Said jealous uncle dopes Ned's horse, but learning an injustice has been committed from a despondent Ned, Ibis uses his wand to immediately rehabilitate the horse. Seeing this, Uncle Dudley bribes the jockey riding Ned's horse to throw the race. Again Ibis intervenes, prompting Dudley to take things to the ultimate extreme by trying to shoot the horse with a rifle. Ibis uses his magic to turn the bullet into a boomerang so it comes back and knocks Dudley upside the head. To add insult to injury, Ibis uses the Ibistick to command the horse to realize Dudley's a mortal enemy, and deliver a powerful kick to Dudley's backside before a police officer arrives to collect him.

Synopsis for Captain Marvel: "The Berserk Giant"

While on a driving tour, Billy visits the town of Smallburg, where he ironically meets Jumbo Jake, who's 9' 3.5" of solid muscle. Billy accidentally calls him "big boy", which is the laidback Jake's one sore spot, causing him to go on a destructive rampage. The local sheriff has finally had enough of Jake and locks him up, but obviously can't hold him when Jake smashes through the roof of his cell just stretching his legs. Captain Marvel agrees to take him to the city, where the owners of numerous circuses are soon fighting over who gets to add Jake to their act. He ends up getting called "big boy" again, but a solid punch to the jaw from Marvel knocks the meanness out of him.
