Synopsis for Ibis the Invincible: "The Golden Whale"
Captain Mackall tries to warn his boss, Mr. Forester, that the ship he's been assigned isn't seaworthy. Forester demands he sail anyway, but it goes down in a storm just like Mackall was worried, and he goes down swearing revenge on his corrupt boss. Soon, a vicious golden whale is attacking and sinking other ships in Forester's line. As his crews think the whale must be a product of witchcraft, Forester asks Ibis and Taia to accompany the ship he's outfitted to go and hunt the whale. Once they're at sea, Ibis is all too happy to tell Forester he's not helping for that man's sake, knowing he has no regard for his people's lives.
When the whale does appear, it proves impervious to mortal weaponry. Forester grabs the Ibistick and commands its magic to make the whale swallow Ibis to get rid of a potentially troublesome witness. As he was trying to use the Ibistick to harm its master, however, the spell backfires and the golden whale swallows Forester instead. After that the attacks stop, Mackall's revenge having been delivered.
