Synopsis for Ibis the Invincible: "Land of Death"
Despite his great magic powers, Ibis' enemy, the wizard Karnok, is unable to find a way to restore the dead to life, scuttling his plans to join forces with a pair of departed evildoers. Ibis finds him then, and in fleeing, Karnok's hit by a car and dies. In the afterlife, Karnok bops Charon the ferryman unconscious with his own oar, having been the first person in history to fight his fate. With control of the ferry of the dead, Karnok finds the souls of the two villains he'd been planning to team up with, and returns to the land of the living. Ra-Tuth summons a sphinx to kill Ibis, who uses his wand to turn it to stone. The barbaric Black Rufe tries to kill Ibis with his bare hands, and when the heroic mage is unable to best him in hand-to-hand combat Taia uses the Ibistick to blast Black Rufe with lightning instead. Ibis opens a portal back to Hell for the fleeing black wizards, and the evil trio is trapped in purgatory for eternity now that Charon knows better than to stop for them.
