Synopsis for Ibis the Invincible: "The Descent into the Maelstrom"
A scientist disappears when he rides a bathysphere into a whirlpool. In pursuing him, Ibis and Taia find a domed city of turtle-people atop the back of a giant sleeping turtle. When the turtle-people try to feed them to the giant turtle to make sure it doesn't wake up, Ibis uses his magic to do just that, and destroy the city and its inhabitants.
