The Widowhood is the most sacred organization in Atlantis.

History

Their ranks are made up entirely of widows whose husbands were killed at war. A widow can be forced to leave the organization, but only if they do something extreme like kill a person. The organization is currently led by Reverend Mother Cetea, the oldest and wisest of the Widowhood.

Among the Widowhood's responsibilities is deciding whether a King's betrothed is worthy of marrying the king. If the betrothed is unworthy it is the Widowhood's responsibility to mold them into the King's perfect counselor and confident. The Widowhood can override any formal marriage if they deem the betrothed too unworthy. Also among the organization's responsibilities is the safeguarding of Atlantean tradition.
