Synopsis for "Chrysalis & Counting"
C.C. Rendozzo has Agent Wax at gunpoint which forces Grifter to relent his gun and surrender. She then has Wax open the container but only finds it empty. However, Wax declares it is not and finds a small capsule containing a microchip. He concludes that they have been played and state that the chip was used as a crude homing beacon. C.C. takes the chip and realizes that it still has some value. She then intends to kill Wax and Grifter, but fortunately the latter pulls out a hidden handgun and kills C.C.'s men save for her right-hand Lincoln and ends up in a Mexican standoff with C.C. Suddenly, a loud sonic sound erupts upon them and are knocked unconscious.
Thereafter, Grifter and Wax find themselves awaken at C.C.'s Florida Keys residence by C.C., who has brought them there and not actually taken prisoner. She states that the sonic attack was mishandled by one of her men Ramon and offers a truce between them in helping each other to find the agent. She introduces them to Ramon, a computer hacker, who is cracking down the chip obtained in Detroit to find the agent.
In Los Angeles, Edwin Dolby and Sam Garfield are at restaurant where the latter is criticizing Dolby for siding with Jack Marlowe. Dolby reasons with him that he sees some real opportunity with Marlowe and believes in his ideals about Halo helping the world. A spectral projection of Marlowe suddenly appears before Dolby and Garfield - who are the only ones that can see him - and informed by him that their homes will be connected to Halo's central data network, and requests Dolby at Halo the next morning. Marlowe's projection then disappears as Dolby and Garfield are left speechless.
Somewhere in a suburban neighborhood, a very typical nuclear family enjoys the day in which they have Agent Orange - the agent that C.C., Grifter, and Wax are after - in their company.
