Synopsis for "Awakening"

Diana arrives at a cave in the Peruvian mountains after investigating the source of stolen Inca artifacts she found in the black-market. Investigating the cave, she finds it has been mostly looted, but finds a man-made crack in a wall of the chamber. After destroying it, she comes upon a shrine with paintings on walls inside it, narrating the foundation myth of the Inca empire by the sun god Inti's four sons.

Inti's oldest son Ayar Cachi was greatly powerful and could cause great destruction with merely his slingshot, as well as use it to bring rain. His other brothers trapped him in a cave and sealed the entrance with a huge rock. As Diana takes the god's name, the earth briefly trembles. She later wonders if the reality is something else and discovers a diagram with slots for inserting precious stones, all of them local. After being unable to find which gemstone goes in its center slot, she decides to send images of the shrine to Barbara Minerva.

What Diana doesn't know however is that Minerva is secretly her arch-for Cheetah and becomes fascinated with the shrine after getting its photos. She recognizes that the diagram is a promise of transferring Ayar Cachi's power to whoever frees him. She decides to head to the cave herself in her Cheetah form after believing a Colombian emerald will fit the center slot of the diagram Diana found. After knocking Diana off a cliff, Cheetah reads the inscription and finds it does promise giving Ayar Cachi's liberator his power.

Diana confronts Cheetah before she can insert the required gems in all the slots, but is unable to stop her. The cave starts collapsing as Cheetah inserts all the gems, but she gets saved by Diana before she can be crushed by the falling debris. Wonder Woman binds her in her Lasso of Truth and demands to know how she knew about the shrine and if she harmed Barbara. Cheetah tries to fight for time by answering the second question first, but finds that Ayar Cachi has been freed instead of his power being transferred to her.

Diana uses her lasso to swing Cheetah at Ayar Cachi, destroying him and causing the cave walls to collapse. Diana hits back against the falling debris to allow Cheetah time to escape and after making out, states that Cachi's brothers still loved him which is why they built the key that could lead to his freedom. She however regrets that threat of the Cheetah still exists unlike him.
