It was first pushed from November 1, 2019 to June 5, 2020; so as to take advantage of the summer box-office season. The pandemic however caused the release date to be shifted to August 14, 2020; then to October 2, 2020; and lastly to December 25, 2020. It was simultaneously released in theatres and HBO Max in the United States.
