Synopsis for "Come Back To Me, Part Nine: Play by the Rules!"

As Diana tries to talk to the staff of the Arena of Death, Cheetah suddenly fires at one of the guards before being stopped by her. Sibella demands to talk to the leader of the arena but the cyborg Rigg tells them to peacefully surrender and do as they say. He then knocks them all out with a powerful shock blast and tells the guards to get them ready for battle. As Diana wakes up, she is told by Sibylla that they've been made to wear shock restraints. Cheetah meanwhile asks her about the food in front of them and gets told that it's actually to help the prisoners gain strength for battle while the arena is a place for death matches between criminals of the universe to earn their freedom.

Sibella warns that they'll be killed if they don't fight before Rigg arrives and asks them to pick who will fight first. Diana attacks him and demands a fair trial, but is told they're all already guilty of violating their laws. The cyborg asks them again who will fight first and all three state they will. Meanwhile, at the Ghiskarri ship, Diana's compatriots are released from their pods and told by the arena guards to follow them. Steve demands to know about Diana but is warned to move if he wants to stay alive. Jonah Hex asks the fighter Drex about their location who is surprised they didn't know since they arrived with Sibella.

Later, a fight to the death is organized between Drex and Sibella with Cheetah taking great joy at such a prospect. The alien princess tells Drex she doesn't want to fight and asks him to walk away, but after seeing his family held hostage he states he can't. During the battle, she is able to slice him with her sword many times which disgusts Diana. After subduing him, she tells him to prepare to die but is stopped in time by the Amazon who breaks out of her chains. Rigg states that the only way to to spare the life of a defeated fighter is for someone to fight in their stead. Diana refuses to fight but is told of her compatriots being held at gunpoint, forcing her to fight Sibella.

Synopsis for "The Villain's Journey, Chapter Three: Atonement"

This story is reprinted from Justice League (Volume 2) #11.

In the aftermath of David Graves' attack on the Justice League, Batman awakens from reliving his parents death, only to find the rest of the League reliving their worst memories as well. The group reconvenes, and Batman theorizes that Graves' spirits seem to feed off the misery of whoever they've attacked. Cyborg discovers that Graves teleported to the house of Tracy Trevor, Steve Trevor's sister.

Graves converses with Tracy, stating that when people die, their souls wait to be judged in a place called "The Valley of Souls". Graves explains that he went to the valley to be reunited with his family, and wants to rid the world of "false gods". The League booms in, only to miss Graves by a second. Tracy argues with Wonder Woman, stating that its her fault that Steve is in danger.

Outside the house, Batman reveals that the villain's name is "David Graves", the author of "Justice League: Gods Among Men", a book that helped catapult the team into the public's favor. He and his family contracted an illness which killed them and crippled him. Graves' last known address was a cabin in Maine.

Wonder Woman decides to face Graves alone, but Green Lantern tries to stop her. The two fight, with Diana gaining the upper hand. Superman tries to intervene, but is knocked back. As the rest of the League evacuates civilians, they find out that Graves has been broadcasting the fight to the entire world. Cyborg booms the League to Graves' cabin, where they come to an understanding.

Batman finds Graves' journals, where David theorized that the disease he and his family contracted was from the Darkseid Invasion, and blames the League for their deaths. The team goes to to the Valley of Souls, where each member sees a spirit take the form of a deceased loved one; with Wonder Woman seeing the spirit of Steve Trevor.

Synopsis for "Who Is Wonder Woman? Part Four"

This story is reprinted from Wonder Woman (Volume 3) #4.

In the headquarters of the Department of Metahuman Affairs, Sarge Steel explains to Diana Prince and Nemesis that Circe has liberated over two thousand women throughout the world from slave labor and prostitution in her first twelve hours as Wonder Woman, and has murdered any man who tried to stop her. Diana visits the Justice Society of America, where Doctor Mid-Nite confirms that Circe has taken her powers.

In New York, the JSA offers to confront Circe, but Diana declines their help, explaining that Circe will be ready for them. Diana leaves and meets with Hercules, who is also without powers. The two of them board an "invisible" jet (a new stealth fighter Batman gave to Diana) and head to Aeaea, home to Circe.

Their plan is to take Circe's spell book and trade it for the return of their powers. Circe shows up and attacks Hercules, but Diana (equipped as Diana Prince) uses a jetpack and flies away with her. Circe lets Diana take the Lasso of Truth and throws her to the ground, but Diana catches one of Circe's bestiamorphs, a dragon, and uses the lasso to expose his true nature—that of a man who wants to help reverse the spell that turned him into a beast.

Diana flies the dragon to Circe's temple, where Circe captures her in Cassie's lasso, though Hercules immediately shows up and stops Circe. Hercules, impressed by Diana's resourcefulness even without her powers, hits Diana and explains his plan: when Athena withdrew Olympus from Earth, he and Circe stayed behind, planning to rule the planet as gods. But when Circe betrayed him (last issue), he decided he wanted all the power to himself, and now he plans to force Circe to award it to him.

A fight ensues, and Diana retrieves her tiara and the Lasso of Lightning, and using the latter, snares Hercules and tells him to release Circe. Hercules threatens to kill Circe unless she speaks the spell that will deliver the powers to him. Diana encourages her, because to do that, Circe must first reverse the original spell, which she does, and Diana once more becomes Wonder Woman. But just as she does so, a staggering band of villains (including Giganta, Doctor Psycho, Cheetah, and others) appears!

Synopsis for "The Others: Chapter Five"

This story is reprinted from Aquaman (Volume 7) #11.

Six years ago, Aquaman and the Others visited the tomb of the first King of Atlantis. According to Aquaman, he was called the Dead King because no one knew his real name. It was the Dead King who built Atlantis and forged the ancient relics. He died during the sinking of Atlantis while searching for his wife and children.

In the present, the Operative meets up with Aquaman, Ya'Wara and the Prisoner; saying that he knows where Black Manta is located.

Meanwhile, Mera fights Manta, who has come to kidnap Dr. Shin. Manta briefly stuns her with a bioelectrical shock and teleports away, taking Shin with him.

The Others regroup in the Operative's plane, and the Operative shows them a map he recovered from Manta's safe house in Oslo. He believes that Manta wants to return to the Dead King's tomb, thinking that there is a seventh relic hidden within. Aquaman thinks that Manta's ally believes that the seventh relic is weapon even more powerful than his trident. Suddenly, Vostok-X enters the Operative's plane.

As soon as Vostok reunites with the Others, Aquaman prepares to jump into the ocean, intending to reach Manta. The Prisoner believes Aquaman doesn't care about the Others; as soon as he joined the Justice League, he forgot about them. Aquaman denies this, saying that he is Manta's real target, not the Others. He is leaving because he cares about them. Vostok says that while was trained to be the perfect cosmonaut; but after he the Soviet Union collapsed, he felt without purpose, until he met the Others. He says that Aquaman can share his burdens with them. Aquaman ignores him and jumps into the ocean. Knowing that Aquaman will never listen to them, Ya'Wara says that there is someone Aquaman will listen and they will need her.

Aquaman reaches the tomb and discovers Manta and his henchmen trying to find the seventh relic. Manta tries to force Shin to help him, but Shin refuses to betray Aquaman again. One of Manta's soldiers says that two relics can triangulate the position of the hidden one. Combining the Seal of Clarity with the orb, Manta opens the Tomb, while Aquaman's trident begins to shine. Manta has found the last relic: the Scepter of the Dead King.
