Wonder Woman (Volume 5) #5 is an issue of the series Wonder Woman (Volume 5) with a cover date of October, 2016. It was published on August 24, 2016.
Synopsis for "The Lies, Part Three"
Etta Candy tries to understand what she should do, as Steve Trevor's team has gone out of the radar: being that Wonder Woman was spotted there, Etta thinks that in some way she will find and help Steve, as they are bound by something inexplicable and yet so strong to make them always find each other. Steve is in the hands of local Bwundan criminal Cadulo, a servant of the god Uzkartaga, who just raided a village to perform a rite able to make his god flesh and blood: given Steve's link with Diana, a thing Cadulo discovers thanks to Diana's photo Steve always brings in his missions, he is chosen as the vessel for the evil god.
In the jungle, Diana and Barbara Ann talk about the Cheetah's always growing hunger, another punishment that Urzkartaga inflicted on his bride: Diana tells Barbara Ann she still is the woman she met and she befriended before, and that she will make sure she has a chance at getting back her life. They also confront about Diana's current state and the matter that led her to find Cheetah and ask for her help: Diana cannot return to the Island of Themyscira, even if she did it many times before, and she finds it connected to her sudden memory shock: she discovered that she has been deceived by some power, and she wants to find out who's tricking her. The two frenemies then are ready to take the final step: facing Uzkartaga himself and enter his territory, where they find Steve's team, imprisoned. After freeing them and half of the girls Cadulo kidnapped, Diana realizes Steve is still missing, without knowing that he's been prepared to serve as the body of Urzkartaga himself.
Back in the states, Director Sasha Bordeaux is revealed to be under the control of a cybernetic being she calls "Doctor". It seems that everything that's happening is a machination of this mysterious figure, including Cadulo's actions. But it seems also that Cadulo himself did not follow what was planned, and so they had to accelerate the timetable: the next phase of the Doctor's mysterious plan requires having Wonder Woman, and both Etta James and Steve Trevor are delivering her to them.

Notes
- The "Lies" storyline is continued in Wonder Woman (Volume 5) #7.
- Sasha refers to Trevor as "Master Chief". This is a serious error, either by her, or by the writer. Master Chief is an enlisted rank in the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Coast Guard. To be called this, Trevor, a Colonel by most other accounts, would have to change services and take a huge demotion.
