Synopsis for Superman and Batman: "Batman and Robin, Medieval Bandits"

One day in Metropolis, Clark Kent hears an urgent call for Superman from Professor Carter Nichols. Rushing to answer Nichols' call, the Man of Steel learns that Nichols used his time machine to send Batman and Robin back on some urgent mission to Florence, Italy in the year 1479. The two heroes haven't returned and Nichols has grown worried about them, so Superman agrees to travel back and time and find out what happened to the Dynamic Duo.

Flying through the time barrier, Superman appears in Italy circa 1479, and the Man of Steel learns that Batman and Robin have been captured by the authorities. Accused of being an ally, Superman allows the soldiers to bound him and bring him for execution along with the Dynamic Duo. Superman breaks free and saves the two people who appear to be his friends. Superman begins to get suspicious when they rendezvous with a band of thieves. Although these men claim to be Batman and Robin and know their secret identities, they knock out Superman with a chunk of Kryptonite. They reveal themselves to be the two crooks Denny Kale and Shorty Biggs.

Earlier, Kale and Biggs were caught in the middle of a robbery by Batman and Robin, but they managed to get a drop on Batman and Robin and tie them up. Unmasking the heroes, they learned their secret identities and decided to pose as Batman and Robin. Getting a call from Carter Nichols requesting the Dynamic Duo's aid, the crooks took advantage of Nichols' time travel technology. Anticipating Superman's possible interference, and being a former Lex Luthor lackey, Denny had a small piece of Kryptonite that he had the thieves' alchemist in 1479 convert an ordinary rock into a chunk of Kryptonite.

As the crooks prepare to dispose of Superman in the past, Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson manage to escape from their imprisonment in the present before a time bomb meant to kill them goes off. Donning spare costumes, Batman and Robin rush to Carter Nichols' lab and use his time machine to travel to the past. Escaping the King's men and racing into the woods, Batman and Robin locate the thieves' den and smash their way in. While giving Denny and Shorty chase, they free Superman and chase the crooks into the alchemist's lab. There, some chemicals are knocked over and their fumes erase the memories of Denny and Shorty so that they forget Batman and Robin's true identities. Not remembering what they've been up to over the last few hours, the two crooks are easily captured and are returned to the present to be turned over to the authorities.
