Synopsis for Superman and Batman: "The Super-Gamble With Doom"
Bruce Wayne consoles a friend who has recently lost $100,000 at a gambling establishment known as Gamblers Isle. Batman consults with Superman about the situation and they decide that Batman will investigate the gambling site on his own. Batman arrives at the casino which is an island in the middle of the ocean encased in a glass dome. He is welcomed by a gracious host who shows him around so Batman can see that all their games are honest. Batman even starts to win a little bit of money to repay his friend. At one point, Superman flies over the scene and immediately recognizes that the gambling isle is being run by aliens. The aliens Rokk and Sorban are from a gambling planet called Ventura. They had previously tried to get Superman to kill someone on a bet. They talk Batman into a dice game. If he wins, he will receive a million dollars but if he loses he will have to remain on gamblers isle until they agree to release him. Batman accepts the gamble but loses. They inform Batman that they are taking him to planet Ventura but the planet has a deadly atmosphere that is harmful to humans. They invite Superman to come along to gamble for his friend’s liberty. They want another chance to match wits with Superman. Superman has no choice but to accompany them. They arrive on the gambling planet and show the heroes around. They soon give Superman the chance to gamble for Batman’s freedom. If he loses, Superman has to agree to remain on Ventura forever. He is introduced to an attractive female guide named Lurala. She shows Superman around the planet. She also shows him what happens to sore loser gamblers. She further shows Superman that the young inhabitants of the planet are taught gambling strategies in their youth to better prepare them for life. The purpose of her tour is to show Superman that the Venturians are skilled gamblers and Superman has no chance of winning Batman’s freedom. Superman later retires to his quarters. As he sleeps he is induced with a dream in which he is gambling for Batman’s freedom. He is led to a room with floating balloons that bear the faces of some of Superman's closest friends. He is given a dart and is asked to throw it. The friend whose balloon he hits will be scheduled to die. His dart seemingly hits the Batman balloon but on closer examination, the balloon bears the likeness of Superman. Rokk and Sorban are astonished. Their plot has seemingly been foiled. Superman later explains to Batman that he was able to use his super speed to grab supplies from Batman’s utility belt to impose his own likeness on the balloon and erase Batman’s picture. Rokk and Sorban are able to see that even in a sleep induced scenario, Superman is still able to outsmart them. The day of the actual contest arrives the next day. Superman is shown a mode of the solar system. Rokk explains that the game is similar to roulette. The table spins and whoever can make a planet fall into the sun wins. He also explains that the consequences will happen in real life to whatever planet falls. He explains that he will try to make the earth model fall and the real earth will be destroyed. Superman has no choice but to play. He uses his skill to make a magnetic asteroid fall into the model of the sun. Superman wins and he is able to bring Batman back to Earth

Synopsis for Congo Bill: "The One-Ape Circus"
This story is reprinted from Action Comics #259.
A group of animal hunters combs the jungle in search of beasts that can perform in their Circus. They set their sights on Congorilla after hearing stories of his incredible intelligence. Congo Bill switches bodies with the golden gorilla while his real body is tied to a tree for safety. He assumes the body of Congorilla and brings down their helicopter with his amazing strength. Congorilla is suddenly subdued with a gas grenade and he discovers that the ring that he uses to switch bodies has fallen off his finger. Congorilla is caged and brought to civilization where he is billed as the world’s smartest ape. During the performance Congorilla deliberately hides his intelligence. He figures that he will disappoint his handlers and this will cause them to sell him off to a zoo where he can easily escape. He fails to perform any of his tricks and the audience soon starts to demand their money back. The circus tent suddenly falls into panic as a charging elephant knocks over supporting post that holds the tent steady. As the roof starts to collapse Congorilla sees that the acrobats are in danger of falling. He is able to hold the supporting post in place until the acrobats climb to safety. The tent continues to collapse and his handler Nell Saxon becomes trapped under a pile of rubble. Congorilla uses his strength to free her and gives her the chance to escape. Saxon then rewards Congorilla by asking him tell her what he wants. Congorilla is able to use a set of colorful blocks to spell out “Send me back to Congo”. Saxon is happy to oblige and returns Congorilla back to his jungle. The gorilla returns and is soon able to recover the ring he had lost. He finds the ring and uses it to switch back to Congo Bills body.
