World's Finest #227 is an issue of the series World's Finest (Volume 1) with a cover date of February, 1975.

Synopsis for Superman and Batman: "Death Flaunts Its Golden Grin"

Batman is still on the lookout for Deadman, who has taken over the body of Batman's brother Thomas Wayne, Jr. Unfortunately, Batman and Superman have been assigned to stop a large criminal organization responsible for smuggling gold into the United States of America. Batman is unable to concentrate on the case, leaving Superman to do all the work for himself.

Batman and Superman decide to separate as they have their own priorities. Superman travels to Switzerland to continue the investigation and Batman follows the trail of Deadman to Iowa, where he finds that Deadman has been using Thomas' body and has become a professional performer in a circus, much like Deadman was when he was alive. Batman tries to reach Deadman, but the sneaky spirit always finds a way to elude the Dark knight. Eventually, Batman manages to reach Deadman, but they are forced to work together to bring down one of the leaders of the gold smuggling gang. As Batman confronts the criminals, Deadman is forced to leave Thomas' body in order to help Batman, but during the confrontation, Thomas saves Batman's life by standing in the way of a bullet for Batman. Thomas dies and it is then that Superman arrives and rounds up the criminals. After Thomas dies, Superman apologizes to Batman, but they are both aware that there is nothing else to do for Thomas and the person who needs attention at the moment is Deadman, who is nowhere to be found.
