Synopsis for Superman and Batman: "The Search"
As Superman is affected by a special ray created by the mob, a female cop comes to Metropolis seeking her twin sister. When Batman learns of Superman's condition, he goes to Metropolis and starts investigating the source of the ray that is killing Superman, but comes across the lady, whose name is Helena. When Batman learns that the quest for her sister, Astrid, might lead him to the mobsters that are attacking Superman, he decides to help her.
Meanwhile, the mob has learned that Batman is on their trail and they command their enforcer to eliminate Superman with the ray. Helena eventually goes to her sister's apartment and finds the criminals using the ray to affect Superman. Meanwhile, Batman has located Astrid, who tells Batman how the mob tried to kill her and now she must remain hidden in death. After giving Batman the details about the mob's plan, she asks for him not to reveal the truth to her sister, for her own safety.
As Helena saves Superman from the mobsters, Batman stops the large scale criminal operation that the gangsters were working on while they attacked Superman to distract the media's attention. Once the crooks have been stopped and Superman is saved, Batman has to fulfill his end of the bargain with Astrid and he makes Helena believe that her sister is dead.
