Synopsis for Superman & Batman: "Fort Crime"
A spree of crimes are being committed by criminals that are using heavy artillery in Metropolis until they are stopped by Superman. However, despite the successful capture, the crooks will not talk about their supplier. Superman vows to the commissioner of Metropolis that he will stop this gang with whatever means possible. Gotham City has a similar problem, this one being opposed by Batman and Robin. When they capture a group of criminals, they have to rely on their keen detective skills to try and figure where these weapons are coming from. When Perry learns that Batman had captured similar criminals, he sends Clark Kent to try and get the scoop on what's going on.
Clark arrives just as Batman and Robin are leaving the prison and learns that the crooks still aren't talking. When he arrives at the crooks' cell block he finds that Lois Lane has arrived on the scene trying to out-scoop him on the story. The crooks have other ideas in mind. Getting free, they hold Clark, Lois, and one of the guards hostage to aid in their escape. Using an excuse that the criminals are being brought to the governor, the guard successfully smuggles them out of the prison and onward to freedom. Stuck in the car with little options that won't expose his secret identity, Clark uses his x-ray vision to effect the moving billboard outside the Daily Planet building as they pass by. When the story about their capture gets out, complete with a description of the car they are in, Batman and Robin race after them in the Batmobile.
As Batman and Robin chase after the crooks, the goons use one of their guns to blast out a bridge. The Dynamic Duo uses the Batmobile's speed to jump the downed bridge and continue their chase. In order to keep Batman and Robin a step ahead of the crooks, Clark secretly uses his super-powers to slow them down so that Batman and Robin can track them to their abandoned fort hide out. When the Caped Crusaders arrive, they find that the castle is rigged with various death-traps, however, Clark once more secretly uses his super-powers to trip up the crooks so that Batman and Robin can easily get into the fort unharmed. Ultimately, Clark takes a gamble and breaks through a brick wall to provide Batman and Robin with to get the drop on the crooks, who are using machine tools to construct their own heavy weapons. Witnessing Clark smash through the wall, Lois accuses him of being Superman, until Batman shows her a map of the castle that reveals a secret passage behind where Clark was bound.
Later as Superman is disassembling the machine tools he explains to Batman and Robin he used his super speed to make up a false map, and later at the Daily Planet he explains to Perry that he used his x-ray vision to effect the moving billboard because he was too busy to do anything but warn Batman and Robin of the situation.
