Synopsis for Superman & Batman: "The Super Bat-Man!"
After being tipped off to the location of criminal scientist Professor Pender, Batman and Robin race off to apprehend the criminal. Superman arrives on the scene first after overhearing two suspicious characters talk about Pender's new machine to take Superman's powers. Pender uses his machine to blast Superman with a dose of electricity that strips him of his powers. Superman then attempts to fight off the crooks and finds that his super strength had failed him. Just then Batman and Robin arrive and Pender attempts to blast himself with the ray hoping for a reverse effect - superpowers. Batman gets in the way and receives the superpowers intended for Pender. The crooks grab the most important component of the device and flee the scene. Forgetting his powers have been drained, Superman jumps out the window after them and must be saved by Batman who has apparently inherited Superman's powers.
Realizing that without an important vacuum tube, the device cannot work Batman and Robin and Superman agree to work together to find it to keep Pender from using a new machine to give himself Superman's powers as well. While Batman takes advantage of his newly gained super-powers, he converts the Batmobile into a Supermobile for Superman's use to get around. While Superman has to get used to fighting crime without powers, Batman finds that he doesn't have quite the same control over his powers as his friend. While tracking down Penders accomplices, Lois Lane becomes suspicious as to why Superman isn't using his powers.
Eventually, 24 hours later Batman, Superman, and Robin track Pender down to an abandoned mine in the South Hills. During the fight, Superman reveals that he never lost his powers, but Pender's ray had coated his suit with Kryptonite dust to weaken him, but the effects disappeared once Superman realized this and he changed to a spare costume. Meanwhile, Batman's powers start to fade. Easily rounding up Pender and his gang, Superman smashes the device to ensure that it can never be used again. Later when they are relating the story to Lois Lane, she finds the story ridiculous and decides to publish a story about how Superman and Batman swapped costumes to play some sort of trick with her. Unable to convince her otherwise, the two heroes allow Lois to publish whatever story she wants to believe and have a good laugh at her expense.
