Wotan, dubbed "Wotan the Terrible," is an evil sorcerer and enemy to the Doctor Fate and the Justice Society of America.
History
Wotan the Terrible was a frequent opponent of the heroic magician Doctor Fate,[1] who in the year 1940 stymied Wotan's attempt to sacrifice Salem Nader, a cursed child from Limbo Town, to empower himself.[2] He fought against Fate and his superhero team the Justice Society of America,[3] and in the 21st Century, joined their villainous counterpart the Injustice Society.[4]

- Wotan was created by Gardner Fox and Howard Sherman, first appearing in More Fun Comics #55. However, in the Prime Earth continuity, Wotan first appeared as part of the New 52 DC Universe in Hawkman (Volume 5) #29 by Robert Venditti and Fernando Pasarin.
- However, he was first mentioned in Justice League Dark (Volume 2) #13.
