Wounder was a deformed "Geisterman" of the Stadtgeist.
History
Wounder under his mask
Wounder was one of many child patients who Charles Quinton subjected to medical experiments to turn them into weapons for the Stadtgeist. Batman was another one of Quinton's patients, but slipped from the Stadtgeists's grasp and was not turned into a Geisterman.
When Batman tracked the location of the Stadtgeist's headquarters and broke in, Doctorgeist hit him with an electric shock to the base of the skull that removed the memory blocks Quinton had installed years ago and released his "dark aura". Doctorgeist ordered Wounder to attack Batman so he would be force to embrace the darkness or die. Batman escaped with the help of a group of street children called the Ratz and Doctorgeist ordered Wounder to chase him down and bring him back.
Wounder eventually tracked Batman to a subway station, where he murdered everyone on the platform and attacked him again. He claimed that he could see the dark aura had awakened as Batman attacked him in a rage. Batman kicked him off the platform onto the tracks where he was run over and killed by an oncoming train.
