Synopsis for Mr. Scarlet and Pinky: "The Tragedy of the Tenor's Tonsils"
Mr. Scarlet and Pinky need to ensure that Brian Butler's client Lauritz Largo does not get well from his head cold, so they let a gang of kidnappers abduct him. This is because, if Largo's cold is cured, his terrible singing voice will return to normal, causing him to lose his radio singing job, making him unable to pay Butler's fee. Scarlet and Pinky rescue Largo from the thugs later, just in time for his on-air appearance.
At the radio station, Largo's villainous rival Vermin Base, secret boss of the gang of thugs, learns the details of Largo's problem, and schemes to cure his cold for him. After the show, Scarlet and Pinky hustle Largo back to the kidnappers, and leave him with them. But Base has tipped off the thugs, and now they busily try to cure his cold, with heat lamps and beef tea and rest.
Largo gets inadvertently hospitalized, diagnosed with tonsillitis, and surgically fixed. This treatment gives him a wonderful singing voice, and he gets a 99-year contract with the opera company. Brian and Pinky get a pair of tickets to the premiere performance, and have caught very severe colds.

Notes
- "The Mermaid in Central Park":
- The mermaid in this story calls herself "The Lorelei", implying that she is the siren-like woman who lives on the Lorelei rock on the Rhine River in Germany (who is usually depicted as a human, but has sometimes been depicted as a mermaid). But she also says she is from the Aegean Sea, which is between Greece and Turkey.
- "The Tragedy of the Tenor's Tonsils":
- No Red Ray Gun in this story.
- In a running gag, Mr. Scarlet and Pinky beat up the same half-dozen thugs three times in this story.
- Also featured in this issue of Wow Comics were:
- "The Ignition Key Murder" (text story) by Nathaniel Nitkin
- "To You - From Hitler!" (PSA, featuring Captain Marvel) by C.C. Beck
