Synopsis for Mary Marvel: "The Rock Gnomes"
Mary visits a rock quarry on an education expedition to see the workers dynamite a cliffside to drop a new load of rock. Someone's moved the dynamite, and the tour group is almost crushed until Mary transforms and hoists the offending rocks out of the way. Since the workers wouldn't have done it, since they'd have been among the casualties, Mary investigates and finds someone tossing rocks at her. She pursues and finds a cave, leading into the cavernous home of a society of gnomes. The gnomes explain they removed the dynamite because the blast would've destroyed them, and they were run out of their previous home by violent humans. Turns out they mean the henchmen of a killer on death row, digging a tunnel to rescue him. After Mary captures them, the gnomes can return to their original caves and the quarry can reopen safely.

Synopsis for Mr. Scarlet and Pinky: "Cash! Dough! Money! Honest-to-gosh moola!"
Finally with some money in after drawing up a will, Brian and Pinky head straight down to the local butcher shop to buy themselves some steak. Suddenly a fire seems to start, and once it's clear they head back inside to find all the meat stolen. Pinky fingers the guilty party because he's carrying a load of onions! When they come after him in their heroic identities, he uses the same kind of smoke bombs he used to fake a fire to make it seem like he spontaneously combusted, then kicks both heroes in the head when they come to help. Only robbing groceries has made him too easy to track, though: Mr. Scarlet and Pinky catch him in the act when he's robbing the receipts at the main location for the only market open that night. He slips away but they use one of his own smoke bombs to make him think there's a fire, and they trip him in his haste to be elsewhere. To the heroes' exasperation, though, there's still no steak to be bought anywhere in town, and they're stuck eating hamburgers again!
