Wylde, real name Charlie Wylde, is a beast-like superhero and member of the Outsiders. Prior to his transformation he worked as a bodyguard for Geoffrey Barron, who later became the superhero Technocrat. He fought a bear and was mortally wounded, but Sebastian Faust saved his life by magically merging Wylde and the bear's bodies. This transformation granted him incredible strength, but he lives in fear of succumbing to animal bloodlust and losing his humanity.
A female version of the character named Shay Li Wylde (also adapted from Grace Choi) was introduced in the Arrowverse series Black Lightning.
Wylde was created by Mike W. Barr and Paul Pelletier, first appearing in Outsiders (Volume 2) #1: Alpha (1993).
