X'ult (Earth-One)

X'ult hailed from another world across the galaxy. The citizens of this world all possessed the ability to congeal time. They used this power to travel across the galaxy, observing worlds, all while remaining the same age. X'ult was an aide to the second-in-command. On one mission, to the planet Earth, he decided he would remain behind and rule the mortals. He arranged for an environment adaptor from the ship to be ejected upon takeoff. When the pod re-entered the atmosphere, it caught fire and landed on an island in the Caribbean Sea. The impact turned it into the "rock" the natives used in their voodoo practices. The rock gave abilities to those who came into direct contact with it, first with Barracuda and Swordfish in the 18th Century, and then with Null and Void in the 20th Century.

In the 18th Century, X'ult confronted Barracuda and Swordfish while they stopped pirates on the high seas. X'ult became smitten with Barracuda, and desperately wished her to be his partner. Eventually, he tried to trap the duo by freezing them in time. However, the three were frozen on the floor of the Caribbean Sea until the 20th Century.

X'ult met Void while lost in time. Together, the two emerged in the 20th Century. They set out to find Barracuda and force her to be X'ult's wife. Using his abilities, X'ult attacked several ships in the Caribbean Sea, forcing Superman to save the victims. X'ult finally captured the frozen Barracuda. He successfully fended off Superman by placing a million light years of time between them. X'ult freed Abigail, but she quickly transformed into Barracuda under his will.

X'ult created a grand ship fashioned from congealed time and engaged the Soviet Navy. The US Navy retreated, rather than being blamed for the conflict, and escalating the Cold War.

Batman, Null, Swordfish, and Superman broke free from X'ult's prison and joined the fight. X'ult dispatched Barracuda to fight Superman and her former lover, Swordfish. However, he touched his tattoo to hers, and broke her free from X'ult's control. Superman dismantled the ship and with a flash of light, the ship disappeared, along with X'ult, Swordfish, and Barracuda, back to the 18th Century.

This version of X'ult, including all history and corresponding appearances, was erased from existence following the collapse of the original Multiverse in the 1985–86 Crisis on Infinite Earths event and later restored following the rebirth of the infinite Multiverse during the Dark Crisis of 2022–2023. Even though other versions of the character may have appeared, this information does not apply to those versions.
