Synopsis for the 1st Story
Mulder and Scully returns to the murder scene to further their investigation. On the way, Mulder shares his theory that vampires committed the murders despite his partner's skepticism. The two investigate the wreckage in which Mulder finds human-sized claw marks on the trucks. Scully then notice a fresh track of footprints leading away from the wreckage where she follow them to find a little girl underneath the snow. She quickly dig the girl out, but suddenly her body begins to combust. Scully carries the girl, who is alive, and runs to the snowmobile with Mulder to bring the girl, whom she believed is suffering from third degree burns, back into town as the sun begins to set.
The agents arrives at the clinic where Scully rushes the girl in, but only to find her body remains completely unharmed. This baffles Scully. The girl is still taken to be medically care for and to be identify. The agents are soon needed again by Officer Santoro to see another murder. Just as Mulder and Scully leave, the girl awakes and reveals to be a vampire who then attacks the medical staff.
The agents arrive at the Brown residence to find the beheaded corpses of Patches and his family. Mulder rules out that they are dealing with a group of killers - who as a part of their M.O. - kill any person or witness they come in contact, in order to protect themselves from being discover. However, this doesn't help explain the victims' blood loss and decapitations. Seeing nothing else from the Brown's murders, Mulder and Scully decide to walk across Wainwright in which the former shares his theories before finding a group of armed Inuit natives performing a ceremony.
They approach the people and are instantly held at gun-point and are demand to smile. They obey in which the natives allow them inside their congregation, who they are preparing for "the darkness and and all that it brings." An Inuit girl approach the agents and tells them about a boat and the "man without limbs." Interested, the agents ask her about it in which she leads them out of Wainwright. She tells them about the man without limbs, a man who is believe to be over a hundred years old and lives on the island of Diomede, and that he "walks between the darkness and the light." She then stops at a hill and tells Mulder and Scully that this is far as she can go, and that they will find what they are looking for over the hill. The agents climb the hill and see an abandoned ice-cutter.
