Synopsis for "The Hour of Our Death"
Hero Brown has traveled to Cooksfield, California to give a letter from her brother Yorick Brown to Beth, only to find that he has impregnated her. Due to all other men being dead for over three years, Beth has hidden the pregnancy that is about to come to term. She invites Hero into the church where she lives and the two women are immediately confronted by Sister Lucia Ober and her Swiss guard.
The two get abducted and are taken to a remote castle run by Lucia where they are held prisoner. She has been monitoring Beth for some time now and believes her child is a miracle from God and destined to be the next Pope. An ultrasound reveals the unborn child to be a girl. Lucia is disappointed and asks how she became pregnant. Hero makes up a story about the Daughters of the Amazon managing to steal away a few sperm samples. Lucia apologizes for the disturbance and send them on their way.
Hero invites her to continue on her journey to Kansas, where Beth can get proper medical care.
