Spartan is an android warrior and an operative of the Halo Corporation.
History
New 52
Recovery and Activation
Spartan was an advanced android of unknown origin. He spent many years dormant, 'in the dark', before being recovered by the United States Government during the early years of the modern age of superhumans. Taken to the Advanced Prosthetic Research Center, work began in tandem with Silas Stone at S.T.A.R. Labs on a project to reactivate the android and reverse-engineer its technology.
The project continued with mild success for some time until a remote signal transmitted by Kaizen Gamorra activated the machine. Spartan's defense system began to network with the highly advanced cybernetics created by the Research Center. Individuals already equipped with cybernetics fell under the sway of Spartan's systems, and those who were not were quickly infected, creating horrifying cyborg monsters.[1] In the process, the Spartan-controlled cyborgs killed and infected the original Caitlin Fairchild.
As a result of the facility going dark, Team 7, which included Caitlin Fairchild's father, Alexander Fairchild was sent to investigate, discovering the carnage. The Cyborg Caitlin lured Alexander in, killing him.
While Team 7 was occupied with the murderous cyborgs, Spartan followed Kaizen's directive, targeting James Bronson. [2] He found him at his family home and obliterated his mother. The attack triggered Bronson's Metagene and the genetic alterations made by John Lynch, resulting in his transformation into the being known as Majestic. Though the home and Spartan's body were destroyed in the resulting explosion, Spartan's core survived.[2]
Infinite Frontier
The Long Con
Many years later, the HALO Corporation recovered Spartan's core and, with the help of Winslow Schott, constructed a new, highly advanced cybernetic body for him. As an operative of the HALO Corporation, Spartan occasionally worked as part of the WildC.A.T.s and later provided back-up to his teammate Grifter, who had been infiltrating the Leviathan Organization.[3]. HALO continued to iterate on the technology, and created new models of the Spartan android.
