Synopsis for "Sons of Dawn (Part IV of IV) - Men... and Supermen"

Rioguay has fallen under the control of the Sons of Dawn. Despite the Sons of Dawn's superhuman strength, an undeterred Judith Dunbar tries to lead the American embassy guards and Rioguayans to fight back against their conquerors. Dyna-Mite, fearing for his mother's life and knowing that they are hopelessly outmatched, breaks free and tries to fight the Sons of Dawn. However, his blasts still remain ineffective against the supermen, and pose extremely risky for the non-superhuman citizens. Dyna-Mite is then quickly manhandled by Xtoh, but Tohil—who is disgusted with his kin's rampage—stops Xtoh from killing Dyna-Mite. Xtoh is displeased with Tohil and fights him, leading to fatally breaking Tohil's neck. Hugo Danner then arrives too late to stop Xtoh from killing Tohil.

Just after Hugo joined his progeny, the All-Star Squadron and Young All-Stars finally arrived thanks to Green Lantern transporting the heroes to Rioguay in record time. Before the heroes and Sons of Dawn battle each other, Hugo claims to everyone that he killed Iron Munro. But following an intense battle, a very much alive Arn interrupted the fray and revealed that Hugo just left him, leaving Arn to take a lengthy time to break out of his prison; Hugo made that up so he doesn't want to look weak in the Sons' eyes. Arn tries to convince Hugo and the Sons of Dawn to stand down, but Hugo refuses and he is willing to kill his son this time. The fight resumed in which they moved their battle to a nearby factory.

Arn personally fights Xtoh and unexpectedly kills him with a single punch. Hugo is left furious by Xtoh's death and goes against Arn. During the fight between father and son, Arn denounced Hugo for destroying any sense of bond between them after unleashing his progeny. Arn and Hugo soon stop fighting when the rest of the Sons of Dawn are losing to the All-Stars as many are suddenly falling ill in which some are dying. Georgina Challenger then realizes that the Sons of Dawn, despite their superhuman feats, are not immune to outside diseases since they and their ancestors have been living in Maple White Land for so long their bodies were not adapted to certain diseases. They—including Xtoh—are dying from a fatal cold. Hugo laments that he inadvertently doomed his children by allowing them to leave their home.

Xavi is seemingly the only one immune—in which Hugo postulated that her female constitution is stronger than the males—and she leads the defeated survivors back to the plateau, where they will eventually die. Hugo is left deeply devastated in which he then takes his own life in order to be with his offspring and finally be away from a world that has no place for him. Despite his grievances with his real father, Arn is left saddened by Hugo's demise.

Arn finds comfort with Fury and his friends reassures him that he still has help among them. Meanwhile, Liberty Belle tells Arn and the Young All-Stars that the All-Star Squadron are willing to accept them among their ranks. Speaking for his team, Arn accepts the offer.
