Synopsis for "Metallic Aftertaste"
Superboy is confronted to Metallo, a.k.a. Juan Cordero. Juan is one of Lex Luthor's experiments, a metahuman with fast healing capabilities. The billionaire offered Juan and his family money and opportunities, grooming Juan in the process. He offered a twisted version of the relationship between Superman, Superboy, Match and himself, and cast himself as the desperate father betrayed by his son (Superboy). Eager to avenge the man who gave him so much, Juan consented to be subjected to painful surgeries to become half-man, half-machine with a kryptonite core, and went after Superboy.
The Outsiders don't fare much better, overwhelmed by Onslaught and the Lex-Bots.
Alpha Squad, led by Miss Martian, take advantage of the chaos to locate Perdita. They find her under Psimon's control, who threaten her life psychically. They take him in custody, but are suddenly attacked by Count Vertigo and Queen Been. The latter has Red Arrow, Arsenal and Halo in thrall and orders the death of the remaining members of Alpha Squad. The thralls obey without warning.
