Young Romance was an omnibus series centering on romance-themed stories. The first 124 issues of the series were published by Prize Publications before being acquired by DC Comics in 1963. Under DC, the title ran for another 84 issues, discontinuing with #208.

Young Romance was the first romance comic book, launching the entire genre. Writer/artists Jack Kirby and Joe Simon are credited with creating the genre and remained heavily involved in the series' production for its first five years. Though primarily an anthology, Young Romance included short features starring relationship councilor Nancy Hale and advice columnist Charmaigne during the Prize years; under DC, they were replaced by stories featuring airline stewardess Bonnie Taylor, a letters column hosted by fictional "romance reporter" Laura Penn, and new advice columnist Jill Taylor.
