Early Adventures

The leader of the hiveworld Korll, Zazzala lives only for the interstellar expansion of her species. She clashed frequently with the original Justice League of America during their early adventures. Queen Zazzala created and army of bee-men to find the potion of immortality for her. She first tested them by having them loot various worlds. But on earth they failed, being defeated by the Justice League. Therefore she threatened to destroy the Earth if the JLA did not find the vials for her. They did but the Green Lantern used his ring to stop her from opening it. Back on her home world she looked through the records of her people's experiments on the Green Lantern Ring and found a way to open the vial.

Zazzala later formed her own team of supervillains in a bid to destroy the JLA. This Anti-Justice League operated from an Earth-orbiting satellite resembling a giant beehive. This team was very short-lived, disbanding after one battle with the JLA.

In her next battle with the JLA, Zazzala controlled real bees. Claiming she was a victim of a scheme that was transferring human intellect to animals, she led the JLA to believe that Sonar was the real villain of the piece. Fooled for a while, the League went on to discover that this was nothing other than an elaborate plot by Zazzala for revenge on them.

The Queen Bee later worked in concert with the Planeteer in a plot against Superman.

Injustice Gang

When Lex Luthor contacted her to join his Injustice Gang, she agreed, freeing The General from his asteroid prison in exchange for a percentage of Earth's population to become her drones. She also participates in other battles against the League. Her main effort is concentrated upon the city of New York. She forces many of the citizens to craft an 'egg matrix' out of local supplies as a way to secure even more mind-control. She attempts to brainwash Green Lantern and Steel, but both heroes are able to fight it off; Huntress encouraged Green Lantern to resist the pollen, and Steel's suit protects him from the pollen's effects. Using the Queen Bee's inability to see the colour red, which many of the superheroes had in their costumes, Wonder Woman and Big Barda keep the Queen's forces occupied while Steel and Plastic Man get the drop on the Queen. Utilizing a Boom Tube, technology controlled by Big Barda, they teleport the Queen and her army back to Korll.

S.S.S.V and H.I.V.E.

Later, Zazzala and her drones join Lex Luthor's new Secret Society of Super Villains. The Queen becomes the leader of the H.I.V.E., a multi-national criminal enterprise. A small team of villains, known as the Secret Six, attack her base as part of a war against the Society. Her forces are defeated, the base's prisoner, Firestorm, is freed and Zazzala herself is badly wounded.

Powers

Alien Physiology

  • Telepathic Immunity:Due to her mind being static and enhanced like a bee, her mind is to fluxed to be telepathically affected.
  • Flight: Zazzala like the rest of her race can fly, but does not need wings like the Earth’s bees.
  • Ultraviolet Vision: able to see ultraviolet light
  • Hypno Pollen: Zazzala's body produces a hypno pollen that is similar Poison Ivy’s Pheromone Manipulation. But instead of making people attracted to her, she takes control of them. Zazzala does this mentally by willing her body to produce the pollen. Through physical contact, she takes control of a victim of her choice. Once Zazzala put the pollen on her victim they have no free will and will do what ever Zalzzala tells the to do. This could range from becoming a lover to fighting for her. There is no limit to how many people she can have under her control but there is a limit for how long they stay under control. The amount of time that the spell last depends on the size of the dose. It usually wears off after several hours have passed.
  • Bee Control: Although she may be able to control more then just bees she has a strong affinity towards bees from both her planet and Earth, this means that she may have general control over any being with the same genetic structure as a normal honeybee no matter what the planet. She is the queen amongest these bees and usually sends them to attack.

Weapons

  • Stinger gun: Once Zazzala became Queen Bee, she had her drones attach a gauntlet gun to her arm. This gun fires stingers that a normal earth bee has on it's abdomen. Instead of just being a normal stinger, Zazzala’s induce a deadly poison. Upon breaking the skin, her stingers induce a poison and if not treated within 3 hours the human will die. It takes time for the poison to affect the human. After ten minutes the person gets dizzy. Thirty, the person devlops a fever and finally the poison takes its full affect and kills the person. If the stinger was to miss the person the stinger would explode and would release a gas form of the posion with the same affect if inhaled.

  • Although this character was originally introduced during DC's Earth-One era of publication, their existence following the events of the 1985–86 limited series Crisis on Infinite Earths remains intact. However, some elements of the character's Pre-Crisis history may have been altered or removed for Post-Crisis New Earth continuity, and should be considered apocryphal.
